Referee Kane Fitzgerald Says LeBron James Threw Air Punch, Used Vulgarity

Megastar LeBron James was ejected for the first time in his National Basketball Association career on Tuesday, in Cleveland's 108-97 win over Miami.

The Cavs' small forward was sent off after arguing with referee Kane Fitzgerald about a no-call late in the third quarter, following a drive to the basket against his old team.

Fitzgerald was asked by a pool of reporters about the ejection and clarified that he did not issue a second technical, but chose to eject LeBron off of one technical. "Immediately after the no-call, he turned and threw an air punch directly at me and then he aggressively charged at me and then he used vulgarity in my ear a few times".

Historically, James has largely avoided discipline from referees.

In his illustrious 15-year National Basketball Association career, there was one thing LeBron James had never done: get ejected from a game.

While the Knicks are in the midst of a three-game losing streak in Kanter's absence, the first-year Knick did not back down from a feud that began earlier this season when James doubted Frank Ntilikina was the right draft choice for the Knicks. The common thread has been defense as the Heat have allowed an average of 96.5 points in those six games and held three opponents to 38.1 percent shooting or worse.

At that time, the Cavs were leading 93-70, with James having scored 21 points.
