Asus has launched a new 18:9 tall display smartphone, Zenfone Max Plus (M1).

The ZenFone Max Plus (M1) seems to be rebranded Pegasus 4S for worldwide markets as both the smartphones sport similar design and specs. It is expected that the device will soon be announced in other markets. The base model will come with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB of internal storage. Sensors on the phone include Compass Magnetometer, Proximity sensor, Accelerometer, Ambient light sensor and Gyroscope.

In terms of performance, the Zenfone Max Plus (M1) is powered by a 1.5GHz octa core MediaTek MT6750T processor clubbed with Mali-T860 GPU. It also features a dedicated slot for adding a microSD card.

The Zenfone Max Plus (M1) is backed by a 4130mAh battery, which is rated to deliver up to 26 hours of talk time on the 3G network and 13 hours of video playback. The phone also has 8 megapixels front camera with 85-degree wide-angle lens and f/2.0 aperture. Another major feature of the phone is the dual-camera setup on the back side, which consists of 16MP and 8MP cameras.

There are still no details on price, release date, or availability from ASUS, but we'll let you know when we have more news; given the Russian Federation listing, it's likely that the Max Plus (M1) will first go on sale there though.

On the connectivity front, Asus Zenfone Max Plus (M1) supports 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS and microUSB. Asus has launched the Zenfone Max Plus (M1) in three colour options- Black Wave, Azure Silvery, and Sunny Golden. This is ASUS' second smartphone to feature an 18:9 display - following the Pegasus 4S earlier this month - and it's a very similar product, packing a large battery and dual rear-camera setup, as well as closely-matched design. It also packs 4130 mAh battery.
