At last, at last, at long freaking last: fans of Miles Morales, the biracial kid from Brooklyn who picks up Peter Parker's mantle in the Spider-Man comics, will get to see their hero on the big screen.

Shameik Moore leads the voice cast as Miles Morales/Spider-Man. The short trailer gives viewers a peek behind that mask.

Producers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord presented the official title and teaser trailer for the film at a live appearance Saturday at Comic Con Experience CCXP17 in São Paulo, Brazil.

Considering the pasty racial makeup of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the moment, the significance of a Spider-Man movie with a biracial protagonist shouldn't be overstated. While you might think this means Peter Parker has a big role, Lord and Miller made it clear this is a Miles Morales movie and Parker is passing the baton to Miles as the new Spider-Man. Sony seems to be telling the audience: This is a superhero film first, an animated film second.

"Wait", he says. "So how many of us are there?" Are you excited to see a new take on the Spiderman mythos? This would explain why Miles goes to the cemetery to visit Peter Parker's grave.

Towards the end of the trailer, Morales talks to another Spider-Man costume-clad person in the subway. Just like the more famous Peter Parker, Miles Morales was bitten by a radioactive spider, too.

The fact that they introduced the film with pure action rather than comedy is a distinguishing mark - and extremely uncommon for an American animated feature. It's a win-win for everyone.
