The long delayed Queen biopic, now called "Bohemian Rhapsody", has been - well - delayed again, after the film's director was axed from the project.
"While, at times, we did have creative differences on set, Rami and I successfully put those differences behind us and continued to work on the film together until just prior to Thanksgiving", Singer stated.
Well, well, well, Bryan Singer, it looks like you did crack.under pressure.
THRreported that Singer was absent during production on several occasions.
"Hours after the announcement that he had been terminated, the 52-year-old, through his lawyer, responded, "'Bohemian Rhapsody' is a passion project of mine.
Fox said Bryan Singer will not return to set to finish directing "Bohemian Rhapsody". The trade writes that the studio made a decision to ax Singer after the director disappeared from set and allegedly got into a confrontation with star Rami Malek, who plays the late Freddie Mercury in the film.
Much like Solo - which was nearing the end of its shoot when Lord & Miller parted ways with Disney - Bohemian Rhapsody only had roughly two weeks before wrapping principal photography. The reason? the studio behind the project became aware of the escalating clash between the helmer and the movie's lead actor Rami Malek.
Even with the behind-the-scenes turmoil, "Bohemian Rhapsody" is scheduled for release December 25, 2018. In his absences, cinematographer Thomas Newton Sigel has overseen production.
Confirming days of rumor and innuendo surrounding the film, The Hollywood Reporter broke that Singer's alleged unprofessional and chronic disappearances came to a head after Singer vanished from the set for a full 10 days after the Thanksgiving break concluded. The studio is expected to name a new director in the coming weeks.
According to insiders, Singer is claiming he is suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder because of the tensions from the on-set drama.
Now, Singer has accused 20th Century Fox of not allowing him to take time off to care for his ill parent.
Singer, who is 52, has directed films including "The Usual Suspects", four X-Men movies including last year's "X-Men: Apocalypse", "Jack the Giant Slayer", and "Superman Returns".
