Social media users are going insane trying the invisible box challenge.

Ariel Olivar recorded the stunt on the sidelines of a playoff game between the Manvel Mavericks and Cedar Park Timberwolves Friday night. In the six-second video, Ariel Olivar pats a phantom box with her hand, then puts her right foot on it before stepping over it. For every successful invisible box challenge attempt, there are about 10 not-so-successful attempts.

Earlier this year, Dontez Hines, a basketball player at Anderson University in IN, posted a clip of himself performing the now-viral stunt.

'The video was my third time trying it. "It's hard to explain, I just keep the leg in the same exact spot", Olivar told The Houston Chronicle.

Started a few days ago, videos of youngsters taking up the insane challenge are doing the rounds and wowing the hell out of people.

For those unaware, it constitutes pretending to tap the surface of a phantom box before placing your foot on top of it and then using your other foot to step on and over it.

'All [the] hip stabilizers on the right side are firing on overtime to hold that hip in position, ' he said.

Other recent popular challenges include the "Ice Bucket Challenge", "Planking Challenge" and the "Cinnamon Challenge".

"You'll notice [the] body rotates towards the leg on the "step" as well". "I just imagined that there was a box and stepped on it". "The technique is to bring the one leg higher than the other as if you're actually stepping over a box". "Very explosive hip flexor, abdominal and glute strength is what is driving the leg up and over the "box", Ebenezer said.
