Just days after coach Jimbo Fisher resigned as coach at Florida State University, the team is expected to reach an agreement with OR head coach Willie Taggart for the position, according to multiple reports.

Taggart landed at OR, replacing Mark Helfrich, after three seasons at his alma mater, Western Kentucky, and four at South Florida, where executed a turnaround from 2-10 in his first season to 10-2 in final year.

Willie Taggart will be making the move to Tallahassee after one season with the Oregon Ducks. He replaces Jimbo Fisher, who took the job at Texas A&M. Before that he was the head coach at South Florida, where he recorded a 24-25 record.

In fact, the state's seven FBS programs have all hired a new coach within the last two years.

Haggins led the Seminoles (6-6) to a 42-10 win over Louisiana-Monroe in Saturday's regular-season finale. Now Mullens has to once again find a new head football coach.

FSU will play Southern Miss in the Independence Bowl while Taggart's old school, Oregon, faces Boise State in the Las Vegas Bowl. From there, the Ducks lost four of their next five after an injury to starting quarterback Justin Herbert. That likely has a lot to do with why Florida State made him a priority. In eight seasons, Fisher went 83-23 (.783) and guided the Seminoles to three ACC titles as well as the 2013 national championship.

Oregon, which will play Boise State in the Las Vegas Bowl on December 16, has named co-offensive co-ordinator and offensive line coach Mario Cristobal as its interim head coach.

Taggart was hired by Oregon last December to take over after the team went 4-8 under Mark Helfrich, who was sacked three days after a season-ending 34-24 loss to rival Oregon State in the 2016 Civil War.
