  • Nearly $700million in lottery jackpots will be up for grabs starting with Friday night's Mega Millions drawing with a jackpot currently sitting at $306million

Mega Millions says in the last 15 years, the first days of the new year seem to be lucky ones. And you still have one more chance in 2017.

Since no one won the jackpot in Friday night's drawing, Tuesday night's jackpot is an estimated $343 million for a single victor.

Lottery officials said this is just the second time the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots have eclipsed $300 million at the same time. Powerball is also played in Puerto Rico.

Both are played in 44 states, plus Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The biggest Powerball jackpot ever was a whopping $1.6 billion that was split three ways in 2016.

The cash value of tonight's jackpot is $242.9 million.

In August, an IL player won a $393 million jackpot.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot is one in more than 292 million, according to the lottery's website, while the odds of winning the Mega Millions jackpot is one in more than 302 million.
