Following a flawless front-nine 31, Woods stumbled with a sloppy double-bogey on the 10th hole.

That never put him within striking distance of Fowler, who produced a remarkable course-record 61 on the par-72 Albany Golf Club layout.

Fowler was in a class of his own in a scintillating exhibition, birdying the first seven holes and surging into a two-shot lead by going out in 28.

The ever secretive Woods has revealed few specifics of his back operations or his rehabilitation, but his most recent spinal fusion surgery seems to have been successful, judging by his movement and swing patterns.

Fowler began the final round seven strokes back from overnight leader Charley Hoffman, but surged up the leaderboard with a lightning start to his Sunday in the Bahamas. Perhaps most importantly, Woods didn't experience any back pain throughout the four rounds, and since there isn't a Tour event until January 4, Woods will have plenty of time to gear back up for his second tournament of 2017-18.

That was just one of the shots that delighted an enthusiastic gallery following the 14-time major champion that included Spanish tennis star Rafael Nadal.

Tommy Fleetwood and Jordan Spieth finished in a tie for third place on 12 under. No pain and lots of promising play en-route to a T-9 finish.

"I'm excited", said Woods, who was playing his first tournament for 301 days since pulling out the Dubai Desert Classic in February. "I showed some good signs", he said, adding that they pointed toward "a bright future".

"The issue was how my scoring was going to be, how was my feel?" Francesco Molinari (70) was ninth and Tiger Woods, (68) completed the Top-10 alongside Matt Kuchar (71). How am I going to get used to the adrenaline in my system, because it's the first time in a while.
