Apple App Store hit record $300mn in sales on New Year's Day

This year will keep the developer community for Apple on the toe, with iMac Pro only started shipping, and the new Mac Pro desktops on the line.

As we have stated previously, Buddybuild is a startup company out of Canada that is focused on app development tools.

Buddybuild confirmed the acquisition in a blog post, in which it also confirmed that the buddybuild team would join Apple's Xcode engineering group "to build wonderful developer tools for the entire iOS community". Even more, Buddybuild has also stopped accepting any new customers. During the holiday season (December 2016), App Store sales topped $3 billion, which is a record in the company's history. Read on to learn more about Apple acquiring Buddybuild and what this means for those on iOS devices.

Both companies' app stores, however, pointed at the holidays' true victor: Amazon. Google Play Store continues to dominate the app market despite the tough competition from Apple's app store, which is obviously causing lot of anguish for the iPhone maker. Apps generated $17 billion in Q3.

Notably, shares of Apple have gained 48.5% in the past one year slightly outperforming the industry's 45.5% rally.

The company is primarily made up of Xcode engineers, which is why it will be great for the iOS app development world.

Nearly three in 10 (29.0%) game developers considered app store promotions a priority for growing audiences. In 2014, Apple purchased the third-party service, TestFlight, which helps developers in testing and collecting the feedback for the iOS apps. They're both former employees of Amazon. Since its establishment, the startup has managed to raise around $8.8 million. It will also discontinue Android app development and existing Free Starter plans starting in March, according to a blog post. Buddybuild counts high-profile clients such as The New York Times and Mozilla, somehow giving a clue on the company's competent services and explaining why Apple took notice.
