The annual Noon Year's Eve event gives kids an opportunity to experience the magic of the New Year without the sleepiness of staying up until midnight, Kara Jenkins, director of events for Provo Beach, said.

There were over 500 people gathered for the highlight of the event, a balloon drop at high noon.

"This is one of our favorite celebrations of the entire year", she said.

You don't have to be an adult to bring in the New Year with a bang.

The children's museum was closed to the public Sunday in order to accommodate the event.

"This event is extraordinary because it's just another time for us to celebrate children, to celebrate their families, and have a great time together", Mosier said. "They get to enjoy part of New Year's like their parents do, and then hopefully the parents can also go out later and enjoy themselves". "So I think it's great the kids get their own special party and have a fun time".

The event is happening December 31st, from 6:00pm-8:00 p.m. with a countdown.

As the kids and families moved around, some stopped to dance to the music or play an impromptu game of tag.

Two-year-old Simone Frascarelli and her 5-year-old brother Filippe Frascarelli were fascinated with a station in which a stream of air lifted pink cylinders of foam.

"Nobody falls asleep or anything, and we can just have fun", guest Ella Lighthart said.

The museum has held this event every year since it opened in 1999.
