Garner's Twitter confirmed news reports Saturday morning while issuing a challenge for New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio (D) to address her death without avoiding remarks about police conduct in the city.

Erica Garner, the daughter of Eric Garner who became an outspoken activist against police brutality after her father's death at the hands of a NY police officer, died Saturday, according to her mother.

Protesters converged on busy streets, blocking traffic, and staged die-ins, carried mock coffins and chanted "I can't breathe" - Garner's last words before he died.

Erica's family tweeted this from her official account: "When you report this you remember she was human: mother, daughter, sister, aunt. her heart was bigger than the world".

"I'm struggling right now with the stress and everything", she said.

Erica Garner became a victim's advocate after her father, 43, died when he was placed in a chokehold by NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo in 2014 over the alleged sale of untaxed cigarettes on Staten Island.

After his death, Erica became an activist and a critic of police brutality.

When Erica arrived, she saw a cell phone video of her father being taken down by several officers, while saying "I can't breathe" 11 times and falling unconscious.

Garner had an 8-year-old daughter and a 4-month-old son, whom she named after her father. Garner also spoke in a 2016 presidential campaign advertisement.

She used her prominence to stand up against police brutality and personally endorsed Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders for president.

Palanteo was charged with causing Garner's death, but a grand jury declined to indict him.

Erica Garner was also apublic supporter of Vermont Sen.

The headstrong activist gave birth to a healthy baby boy in August, but her first cardiac arrest episode followed the pregnancy due to unforeseen complications.

Sanders in a series of tweets on Saturday sent his condolences to Garner's family, characterizing her as an "exceptional young woman" and "fighter for justice" who will not be forgotten.
