And, these celebs agree!

Before that, Mary Tyler Moore won for her lead role in the 1980 best drama victor Ordinary People, as did Louise Fletcher for One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975), Ali MacGraw for Love Story (1970), Geneviève Bujold for Anne of the Thousand Days, Gloria Swanson for Sunset Boulevard (1950), Jane Wyman for Johnny Belinda (1949), and Jennifer Jones at the first Globes ceremony for The Song of Bernadette (1943).

And when it came to announce those vying for the best director award, Portman, who wore black in support of the Time's Up movement, pointedly observed: 'And here are the all male nominees'. Yes, Portman was calling out the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for failing to nominate any female directors this year - including Greta Gerwig, whose film Lady Bird won Golden Globes for Best Picture, Comedy and Best Actress for Saoirse Ronan.

After Natalie's remark, Barbra Streisand took to the stage and noted she was the last female director to win a Golden Globe for her work, and that was in 1984, Entertainment Weekly reported. Natalie was on point and it was an hilarious moment.

Winner Guillermo del Toro did not specifically acknowledge Portman's comment, but as the music swelled to play him offstage, he asked for it to stop - and then took time to praise "a few fantastic women" who had worked on the film.

Natalie shared a video of the twosome on their way to the awards.

Guillermo del Toro beat out fellow directors Martin McDonagh [Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri] Christopher Nolan [Dunkirk], Ridley Scott [All The Money in the World] and Steven Spielberg [The Post], to win best director at the 2018 Globes.

Even Mindy Kaling was super impressed. Only one woman has ever won the award for best director in the Golden Globes' 75-year history.

"And Natalie Portman is my f***ing hero", Evan Rachel Wood chimed in.
