Roy Moore Accuser Is Suing Him For Defamation

  • Woman who accused Roy Moore of unwanted sexual contact sues him for defamation

Kayla Moore, the wife of failed Republican Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, confirmed the identify of the lawyer to whom she was referring when she said "one of our attorneys is a Jew" at a December rally.

During the campaign, Corfman wrote an open letter to Moore demanding that he stop attacking her character, but she said he continued to do so. During the campaign, several women accused Moore of inappropriate and, in some cases, criminal sexual conduct with them when they were in their teens and he was in his 30s.

The lawsuit focuses on how Moore and his campaign responded to her claims and the national reaction. "If you graduated from West Point, spent five years in the Army, served in Vietnam, graduated from law school, became a lawyer, were appointed district attorney, then your next step would be to take your clothes off with a 14-year-old?"

He also placed her hand on his genitals over his underwear.

Moore denied the accusations against him - which upended his Senate race, which he ultimately lost - calling them "false and misleading". "By this lawsuit, I seek to do what I could not do as a 14-year-old - hold Mr. Moore and those who enable him accountable". Wishnatsky was a staff attorney at the Alabama Supreme Court from 2013 to 2016, when Roy Moore was chief justice, then joined the foundation, which advocates for religious right causes, such as opposition to LGBT rights and abortion - stances that Roy Moore famously took at the court. The lawsuit was filed a day after Jones was sworn in as a member of the Senate.

"These allegations are completely false and misleading", Moore said during an appearance on Sean Hannity's radio show shortly after the Post bombshell.

But Kayla Moore now says that she was referring to someone else.

The decision to sue Mr. Moore and his campaign committee was hard, but they need to be held responsible for their actions. They ignored my requests to stop attacking me and to acknowledge the truth.

In the lawsuit, Corfman said she wants Moore and his campaign to retract their defamatory statements about her, to offer her a public apology for those statements, and to refrain from making further statements about her.

Corfman isn't seeking financial compensation outside of reimbursement of the costs and expenses of the lawsuit.
