The launch window will now open at 8 p.m.

The Falcon 9 rocket's reusable first stage will attempt a controlled landing at Landing Zone 1 (LZ1) at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station.

"Hold-down test fire next week".

The company rolled the rocket, featuring three Falcon 9 first stages mounted side-by-side with a second stage mounted on top of the center booster, to the pad for the first time December 28, raising it to the vertical position for fit checks there.

If all goes according to plan, Falcon Heavy will launch before the end of the month. The decision was made with an eye on the extreme cold weather and storm Grayson affecting the East Coast, and the company said the weather slowed down its operations too. That statement came despite forecasts that had, in recent days, offered a 90 percent chance of acceptable weather for a launch previously scheduled for January 4 and 5.

Falcon Heavy would be launched by January end.

For the test flight, the rocket will not carry a customer's payload. With the ability to lift into orbit over 54 metric tons (119,000 lb)-a mass equivalent to a 737 jetliner loaded with passengers, crew, luggage and fuel-Falcon Heavy can lift more than twice the payload of the next closest operational vehicle, the Delta IV Heavy, at one-third the cost.

Elon Musk shared two awesome videos of SpaceX's new Falcon Heavy rocket, which is slated to debut later in the month.

"Excitement on launch day guaranteed, one way or another", Musk said.

Iridium Communications Inc said on Wednesday its 10 satellites, launched last week by tech billionaire Elon Musk's SpaceX, are functioning as expected.
