  • The Sea Of Thieves Closed Beta Sets Sail On 24th January

Starting on January 24th, Sea of Thieves will allow those who pre-ordered the game, as well as those who joined the Insider Program, to get a taste of pirate life.

The trial will be going on from January 24th to January 29th, and will be offering players a decent chunk of Sea of Thieves' core gameplay loop.

Featuring a "translucent design" and "laser-etched barnacles", the controller also has its own hidden treasure in the form of one single golden trigger (it's the right trigger, if you're wondering) as well as a nautical design on the rear of the controller. In both cases, you'll still need to download and install the beta before you can participate. Find out more details on the Beta here. We revealed March 20 as our launch date and made a star of an unsuspecting chicken with a swashbuckling trailer, kicked off pre-orders, revealed how you progress through the world of Sea of Thieves, and showed off our haunting Limited Edition controller. Once you have done this, the game will appear in your games library 24 hours before the Closed Beta begins.

Microsoft has just announced that PC and Xbox One bound Sea of Thieves is getting an Closed Beta.

One final thing: the Closed Beta will not be covered by an NDA, so players can stream, create videos, share clips, take screenshots or do anything else that their wonderful minds can come up with.
