  • AT&T to roll out mobile 5G network in Dallas, Atlanta and Waco, Texas, by the end of this year

Austin is one of 23 US cities where AT&T has been testing its 5G Evolution network, which is known as a faster version of the 4G networks but not a full 5G service.

AT&T reiterated that its mobile 5G deployment will be based on emerging 3GPP standards, holding that the offering will integrate with current LTE technologies using the non-standalone configuration outlined in 3GPP release 15.

The company also added that it will provide more options to access their latest wireless network and will produce additional 5G Evolution-capable devices throughout the year. I guess we will be able to live stream 4K 360 degree content from our smartphones!

Awhile back we got the news that AT&T would be offering up 5G services soon and today the word comes down that AT&T 5G Is Coming To Dallas, Atlanta, Waco In 2018. Additional spectrum bands will be utilized for 5G later on.

In today's Tech Bytes, the next generation of wireless technology. But Georgia is often a testing ground for new AT&T products and services, with the company recently testing a new technology in a rural part of the state called AirGig to deliver super-fast internet service via power lines.

AT&T began doing 5G field trials in 2016 and tested the service with some residential customers as well as small and large businesses and high-traffic retail areas. Mansfield said AT&T is working aggressively with vendors, so that it can start stocking shelves in 2019.

In the beginning of this year, AT&T announced that the operator will be launch 5G across twelve markets in the US.

While AT&T and Verizon have made some strides with 5G, experts project these networks will launch in 2020.
