  • Apple partners with NBC on a new Winter Olympics section in Apple News

Besides now being able to watch live news broadcasts, people can also use the Apple TV app to watch shows or movies they bought or rented via iTunes, or watch certain sports events via a Sports category that features some ESPN broadcasts.

Apple's TV app, available across its iOS and tvOS devices, has added live news to its slate of available TV and streaming video apps.

The TV app News section now offers live news feeds from Bloomberg, CBS News, Fox News, CNBC, CNN, and Cheddar. You can even track medals using the app and using the News widget on iPhone and iPad you can track results without launching the app. On tvOS, the users can use Siri to start playing a specific network.

If you're an avid Apple TV user, the tech company has some good news for you. Sports has not really been a huge focus in that context, although Apple did add a dedicated Sports tab to Apple TV in September, perhaps laying the groundwork for this and many more activities down the line. The News feature now only includes US-based outlets, though this may change down the line.

According to 9to5Mac who first noted the feature was live, you'll need iOS 11.2.5 and tvOS 11.2.5 for it to pop up on your device.

The News section in the TV application is accessible under the main "Watch Now" header. Try it out and let me know how you like it.
