  • Areas of snow tonight — FORECAST

A little rain or drizzle can fall at times on Saturday.

The National Weather Service predicts potential scattered snow showers in areas north of the Massachusetts Turnpike late Friday night.

"It's not freezing rain, but a mist that might freeze and accumulate on elevated surfaces", Hernandez said.

Sunday afternoon looks overcast with temperatures sneaking into the mid 30s.

This evening into the early overnight hours will see that snow chance really become widespread across the region, before wrapping by daybreak on Sunday. At this point, only minor accumulations of ice are expected. Rainfall totals could be up to an inch for many backyards through Sunday night. Lows will drop into the middle teens with wind chills in the single digits.

Much cooler air will move into the state today, dropping temperatures below freezing in Northwest Arkansas this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a 60 percent chance of rain for the rest of the night Friday and until 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

Be sure to monitor the latest forecast and updates to the Winter Weather Advisories issued for our area.

A *Winter Weather Advisory* remains in effect for northern and western Kansas until 3 AM tonight. Cloudy, with a high near 33.

"Make no mistake about it: This is a heavy snow, heavier than we have seen in a number of winters", Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel told the Weather Channel on Thursday. Cloudy with highs near 29°. Even though a few spotty showers are possible by Wednesday, we'll actually manage to warm up around 40.

High winds can also result in lower snow ratios since snowflakes can break apart in that situation, says NOAA.
