Lindsey Vonn says this will be her last Olympics

A tour through Vonn's house is like walking through a ski museum. She was married and divorced.

"She travels with me everywhere".

Vonn wrote on Twitter on Wednesday that she had been sitting on a plane for about two hours but had yet to take off, explaining that "apparently we don't have the right documents to fly".

Vonn was not able to compete in the Sochi Olympics because of a knee injury and has trained to recover from a broken arm that caused nerve damage in her hand. At 17, she became the youngest USA woman to win an Alpine world championship. And yes, part of it is the two-plus years she spent dating Tiger Woods.

So Vonn is thrilled to be back on her sport's most visible stage.

It was fortunate that Tirico had the opportunity to sit down with them then; sadly, Lindsey's grandfather passed away in November.

We have no doubt Vonn will make him proud.

"She's always with me", Vonn said.

What: A new Olympics-themed ad from Under Armour uses verse to tell her tale. She is among the favorites to add a second downhill gold to her 2010 title from Vancouver. She is 33, and is openly talking about, nearly certainly, being her last Olympics.

But the Olympics are nothing if not a vehicle for stories of personal struggle and heartache. "I'm going to win for him". I really had hoped he'd be alive to see me. "I'm going to win for him".

Those sentences read smoothly, and the sentiments are real. Lindsey Vonn cried on Friday, the sorts of tears that go from 0 to 60 faster than a racecar. She is the victor of 81 World Cup races, more than any other woman.

After a lackluster start to the season, Vonn came on strong in the lead-up to PyeongChang after resting her knee for a month.

A healthy Vonn has been a rarity the last few years, but her problems have usually been more along the lines of injuries rather than illness. "So to hear anybody with the kind of success that she's had say anything remotely positive about me is very flattering".

That she's even here is impressive enough.

Vonn said her increased mental strength really comes into play when she's in the starting gate.

Now in 2018, the 33- year-old isn't slowing down, and getting ready to compete in her fourth Olympic games. "I really want to put an exclamation point on my career". My main focus this year was exclusively on the Olympics and I'm very happy with how I feel physically, mentally. I've overcome a lot. "You better become friends with pain because you're going to have it your entire life", he often said.

That includes in how to carry her grandfather's memory.

Vonn said her perspective on the Games hasn't changed that much since her first Games 16 years ago. As he raised his family on a farm in rural Milton, Wisc., he built a tiny ski hill with a tow rope.

Alpine skiing will run February 11-24 at the Games.

Vonn also looked past the 2018 Pyeongchang Games, vowing to continue to race on the World Cup until she breaks the record of 86 World Cup wins held by Ingemar Stenmark. The emotions of her grandfather's death are still raw. And that colors her entire trip here. "It's about my grandfather".

One of the skiers Vonn must watch for is Sofia Goggia from Italy.

She is without question one of the most famous athletes in the world. Most of the time ... She has skied through personal strife and physical disaster. Her technicality shaves tenths of seconds off her time.
