Windows 10 To Start Deleting Scareware from Users' Computers

  • Windows will rid your computer of deceitful cleaners

Two-and-a-half years after its release, Microsoft's latest operating system finally overtook Windows 7, with 42.78 percent of worldwide internet usage versus Windows 7's 41.86 percent.

According to Microsoft, after a recent update, Windows 10 will start to automatically delete the so-called scareware programs i.e. free programs that use scare tactics to convince users to pay for their premium version.

The idea is that Windows Defender, the built-in security and antivirus app for Microsoft's OS, will employ certain "evaluation criteria" to pick out apps which are identified as either unwanted software or straight-out malware.

"This is a breakthrough for Microsoft", commented Aodhan Cullen, CEO of StatCounter.

Windows users that lack technical skills are very inclined to purchase the upgraded version to fix the issues. This will be the next perpetual release of the Office Suite but if you are running an older version of Windows, you better be prepared to upgrade if you want to install this version of the software.

With Windows 7 end of extended support nearing -January 2020- more and more companies are making the switch to Windows 10.

Windows 10 only beat out Windows 7 by a tiny margin. However, he also said that Microsoft undoubtedly hopes to replace 7 more quickly than it replaced Windows XP, which was launched in August 2001. Makers of crapware have always been in operation and regularly prey on unsuspecting users of Microsoft products to make money. For example, Windows 10 overtook Windows 7 in the United Kingdom in June 2016, and in North American in June 2017.

Because how much Windows 8 was hated by the masses, it's understandable that users would wait years before upgrading from Windows 7 out of concern that they would hate Windows 10 as much as they hated Windows 8. However, the US Government analytics portal backs StatCounter, showing Windows 10 PCs as accounting for 21.3% of visits to government websites over the past 90 days, with 19.9% being Windows 7 machines.

NetMarketShare stats count every user equally, while StatCounter gives extra weight to heavy web users, due to the fact that NetMarketShare attempts to measure daily unique users, while StatCounter measures total traffic.
