The long term takeaway might be how this terrible tragedy leaves a lasting imprint of positive change on the community.

Students from Millburn Public Schools participated in Wednesday's National Student Walkout to protest gun violence and honor the 17 victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas School shooting last month.

Authorities previously said the footage showed that Peterson never went inside the building where the gunman was shooting at students and school staff.

The police radio recordings showed that the Coral Springs police officers were the first to enter the school building after confirming that Broward County Sheriff's Office deputies had not gone in.

He would later be criticized for not entering the school.

The ceremony was organized and led by students. He was apprehended shortly after as he walked calmly through a nearby residential neighborhood.

Principal Miller, who is in his first year at Chino High, asked the students to take five minutes during Wednesday's event to go and meet a student they don't know, shake their hand and let them know they are all members of the Chino High School community.

We also learned the stories of heroic teachers and students who saved lives. From the White House in Washington D.C.to Columbine High School in Colorado, thousands chanted for stronger gun laws.

"Your comments this week have been pathetically weak", Guttenberg said to Sen.

"I was shocked to read speech would be sanitized, and there would be no talk about the NRA", said Kevin Quinn, a Short Hills father and chair of the board of both the Brady Campaign and the Brady Center To Prevent Gun Violence.

A person close to the accused shooter, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz, then called the FBI's public tipline on January 5 warning them of his gun ownership and concerns of a possible school shooting.

A judge ordered the release of the video footage of Scot Peterson, whose lawyer has said the former officer "is confident that his actions on that day were appropriate under the circumstances" and that video and eyewitness testimony "will exonerate him of any sub-par performance".

The president later said at a meeting with governors that he would have run into the school without a gun during the shooting.

"Broward, do not approach the 12 or 1300 building". Cruz then abandoned his weapon and exited the school building heading west on foot.

Students aren't supposed to leave for school in the morning not knowing whether they'll make it home or not.

As everyone tried to put their lives back together, the fight for gun control continued.

The Broward Sheriff's Office is investigating allegations that multiple other deputies responded to the school but remained outside, while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement is reviewing the police response to the shooting.

Padowitz said it would not look right in the court of public opinion or to the victims' families if he pleaded "not guilty" at his arraignment, especially since Cruz already confessed to the killings and the public defender's office said he would plead guilty in the hopes of avoiding the death penalty. "The people in Parkland aren't going to be the same".

A chance to share the grief of their neighbors and friends and pray for those whose lives were forever changed.
