Android P Marks the End of Nexus phones and Google Tablets

When the Nexus line was Google's baby, we knew all the cool features those phones possessed would be in the new version of Android for everyone at some point. This one is codenamed "P", and your guess is as good as ours as to what dessert-themed name the final version of the software will receive.

Google's funky new camera party trick, Google Lens, is now available on all Android phones with the Google Photos app installed.

This is all very standard, as these devices are promised two years of feature updates from the date they're released, and an additional year of security updates.

Google has finally released the Android P Developer preview.

- Support for the notch in the screen, similar to the notch that the iPhone X has.

Google also says the developer preview 1 is only for app developers, and not meant for daily or consumer use, given this is the first build and will likely come with bugs and other issues, which might not be suited for daily consumer use.

If you own a Nexus 5X or Nexus 6P and you want to try Android P, you've got a couple of options. The same goes for a new Multi-Camera API that's for devices with dual rear-facing cameras or dual front-facing cameras. So, users can access multiple streams at the same time from more than one physical camera. The rich notifications improve upon Android's current notifications by adding more context and potentially suggested replies. Developers who do not have a Pixel device can rely on the Android Emulator and explore Android P's new features. Make sure to keep your environment up-to-date and flash a new system image at each Developer Preview milestone, said the search engine giant. Now, users will be able to see more information in notifications like chat conversations, photos and stickers. The new Android has various new features like a standard dialog box UI for fingerprint verification, a new look for notifications from messaging apps, and a power efficiency management tool, but here we have picked some of the features which are more understandable to users.

It's not unexpected unless you haven't been keeping tabs on Google's devices. The dropped Android P support for the Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, which are old phones, is hardly an issue.
