Polish President Andrzej Duda extended his congratulations to China's Xi Jinping upon his re-appointment for a second term as the country's president on Saturday.

On Saturday, a key Xi ally, Wang Qishan, was appointed to the previously ceremonial post of vice president.

As expected, Mr Xi won unanimous approval at the National People's Congress for his reappointment as China's president, and following changes in the constitution agreed earlier at the parliament, there are no limits on how many terms he can serve.

Li, who maintained a low profile under Xi mainly looking after economy, was endorsed as premier for his second tenure.

Other officials who got elected included was Yang Xiaodu director of the national supervisory commission, a newly formed anti-corruption body with statuary powers.

Pakistan and China are all-weather strategic partners, and the two countries will continue to commit themselves to comprehensively strengthening bilateral relations and benefiting the two peoples, Hussain said.

According to Reuters, Xi's face dominated the front pages of major Sunday newspapers, many carrying the same editorial from the ruling Communist Party's official People's Daily using language once more associated with Mao Zedong to say he was a "leader loved and respected by the people" and "helmsman of the country".

Xi was also re-elected as the Chairman of the Central Military Commission (CMC) which is the overall high command of the two million strong Chinese military. Xi chairs both the state and the party's military commission.

"This has also contributed to the stability and prosperity of our region and the world", Mr Lee said.

Maldives' President, Abdulla Yameen, considered Xi's continuity in the position a total recognition of his great contributions to his nation in the last five year term and a reflection of the confidence that his people have to materialize the goals of socio-economic and political revitalization.
