  • France accuses Iran of supplying weapons to Yemen's Houthi rebels

The coalition spokesperson Turki al-Malki said an Iranian made missile with Persian writing was confiscated in Yemen, and a shipment of missiles from Iran were seized before they were used by Houthi militias. Le Drian's comments came days before an official visit to France by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Yemeni forces fired seven ballistic missiles into Saudi Arabia in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians by the Saudi-led coalition.

Those weapons allegedly include ballistic missile technology used to target Saudi Arabia, which leads a military coalition of Arab nations backed by the USA that is stuck in a stalemate war with the Houthis.

The coalition intervened in Yemen in March 2015 in a campaign to restore its internationally recognised government after it was driven into exile by Houthi forces.

Iran denies it is backing the Houthis.

"If Iran is genuinely committed to supporting a political solution in Yemen - as it has publicly stated - then it should stop sending in weapons which prolong the conflict, fuel regional tensions, and pose threats to worldwide peace and security", they claimed in the joint statement.

"On the other hand, by making such claims, Saudi Arabia seeks to cover up its failures in Yemen", he noted.

"In a statement late on Tuesday, Qassemi pointed to the Saudi-led coalition's recurring defeats in the "unequal war" that it has waged on Yemen and said, "...

Any political resolution to the conflict must not put the Houthis in government or we risk a situation like in Lebanon where Iran has proxy control of a government through a terrorist group.

Consultancy Eurasia Group said that a successful Houthi strike on a prized Saudi target would probably prompt a firm military response from Riyadh to try to deter Iran. If not for them, who knows what danger Iran would have been able to inflict on the other people of the Middle East.

The policy statements from Washington, the brand new regiment of sanctions and the appointment of incoming national security adviser, John Bolton - a foreign policy radical, who unequivocally supports wars with Iran and North Korea, indicates the Trump administration's readiness to take on Tehran.

Khoshrou called on the Muslin world and the worldwide community to pressure Saudi Arabia to stop war in Yemen.
