Armenia ranks 129th out of 156 countries in the World Happiness Report 2018 by the United Nations (UN), News.am reports.

The report added that the "sociopolitical system" in the United States produces more income inequality - a major contributing factor to unhappiness - than other countries with comparatively high incomes. The least happy country, according to the report?

The country's migrant population in 2017 made up 31.9 percent of the total population.

Finland is the happiest country in the world, according to the latest World Happiness Report.

Good cheer might abound in Naples, Florida, but as a whole, the United States is lagging behind comparably wealthy nations when it comes to its residents' happiness.

Where as, the top 10 unhappiest countries in the 2018 global report are in descending order, Malawi, Haiti, Liberia, Syria, Rwanda, Yemen, Tanzania, South Sudan, Central African Republic and Burundi.




Nordic countries usually appear in the top five places but those that are hit with war as well as places in sub-Saharan Africa regularly appear at the bottom.

The overall rankings of country happiness are based on the pooled results from Gallup World Poll surveys from 2015-2017, and show both change and stability.

Although swapping places, the top 10 positions have been held by the same countries over the past two years, namely Denmark, Iceland, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden and Australia.

The United States fell to 18th place from 14th past year in the index done by the U.N. Sustainable Development Solutions Network.

"Governments are increasingly using indicators of happiness to inform their policy-making decisions", said economics professor Jeffrey D. Sachs, director of Columbia University's Center for Sustainable Development and report co-editor. "The US happiness ranking is falling, in part because of the ongoing epidemics of obesity, substance abuse and untreated depression".
