NAN reports that British foreign minister Boris Johnson suggested on Thursday that corrupt Russians who owe their wealth to their ties with President Vladimir Putin could be targeted by British police in retaliation for a nerve attack on a Russian ex-spy.

"If a request comes, then of course we will help, but I assume British and United Nations experts have comparable abilities", he said, welcoming Britain's decision to invite the worldwide Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons to verify Britain's conclusion that Russian Federation was responsible.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday that Russian Federation could announce retaliatory measures against Britain in a diplomatic row over the poisoning of former double agent at "any minute".

Britain this week ordered the expulsion of 23 Russian diplomats and cancelled high-level bilateral contact with the Kremlin. Both are in critical condition.

He told the BBC a sample of the nerve agent would be sent to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons - the independent global body set up to stop chemical warfare - for analysis.

Hamish de Bretton-Gordon, former commander of the British Army's chemical and biological weapons regiment, called the claim that US or British agents could have developed Novichok "complete hogwash".

Some scientists say it's feasible that the nerve agent could be made stable enough to travel and that various compounds could have been added to Novichok to make it a clear, colorless liquid resembling water, perfume or alcohol.

The former spy, Sergei Skripal, 66, and his daughter Yulia, 33, are believed to have been poisoned with a Russian-developed nerve agent identified as Novichok.

"The moment you mix this stuff up, it presents a high risk to you - and if you were to spill it, you'd be in awful danger", said Andrea Sella, a professor of inorganic chemistry at University College London.

It's thought the Skripals were exposed to Novichok at the elder Skripal's home in Salisbury.

"They sought to launch an active dialogue with the officials in London ..."

Specialist officers in protective suits prepare to secure the police forensic tent that had been blown over by the wind and is covering the bench where Sergei Skripal was found critically with his daughter on March 4 and were taken to hospital sparking a major incident, in Salisbury on March 8, 2018 in Wiltshire, England. "But to all appearances, they had no real concerns: they went to lunch and they went to a pub".
