  • Arvind Kejriwal calls PM Modi's fast against disruption of Parliament by oppositions really 'cute'; gets trolled by Twitterati

Couple of days ago, Congress was mired in controversy after several of its leaders were caught having "Chola Bhature" before going for the fast.

The explanation sought by the Prime Minister and the party president from the UP chief minister is seen in the backdrop of a visit by two top RSS functionaries - Gopal Kirshna and Dattatreya Hosable - to the state capital recently.

Protesting against the disruptions, the BJP had earlier announced that the National Democratic Alliance MPs would forego salaries along with allowances for 23 days due to the washout of the second half of the Budget Session.

On Monday, Rahul Gandhi led a Congress fast at Mahatma Gandhi's memorial Rajghat to highlight communal harmony and what the party called the government's failure to control violence during Dalit protests. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah will stage a sit-in at Hubli in poll-bound Karnataka on the same day.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Tuesday took a jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over reports that he, party (BJP) chief Amit Shah and others, will observe a day-long fast on April 12, to protest disruptions in Parliament by the Opposition, by saying "that's really cute".

Today, Modi will address all MPs through video conferencing as they hold "Samata Diwas" in their respective constituencies on Jyotiba Phule's birth anniversary. Party sources said Modi will stick to his schedule and work from his residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg despite the fast. Along with them, all the BJP MPs will also join the fast observation, they said. The ruling dispensation has planned country-wide celebrations on the Dalit icon's birth anniversary on April 14.

On Friday, Modi had accused Congress of resorting to divisive politics and announced BJP's hunger strike as a protest.
