"How and from where the BJP will win seats when other opposition and reginal parties close ranks and contest jointly against it in the 2019 polls", he said.

The Congress president's remarks come just a day after Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav confirmed during an interview to a television channel that his party will ally with the Bahujan Samaj Party against the BJP for the 2019 General Elections.

Mumbai: BJP chief Amit Shah on Friday mocked Congress President Rahul Gandhi for celebrating the saffron party's recent bypoll defeat in two Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh, saying the Congress president was celebrating his own party's "disastrous" performance.

In an interaction with a few journalists over breakfast, he said the people of South India and north-east India, minorities, Dalits, and entrepreneurs were being discriminated against.

The Congress and the BJP are both campaigning hard ahead of next month's Assembly election in Karnataka. Hailing the Chief Minister, Gandhi said "Now, when we get the government in Delhi, we will learn from the Karnataka government because the person doing the most hard work should be rewarded the most". This will be Rahul's second visit to Amethi after becoming Congress chief.

"There are only two non-animals in this country".

She had also met Sonia Gandhi, the former Congress president who often does the reaching out to allies and hosts lunch or dinner meetings with opposition leaders.

"The natural sort of political environment where there is a little bit of acrimony, but not hatred, needs to be restored", he said.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Sunday said that the only way for any government to instill faith among youngsters is to create jobs by competing with China, as the neighbouring country is going to be the prime competitor for the next 30 years. Interacting with the workers, Gandhi said if his party comes to power at Centre, it will learn from the current Karnataka government on how to reward sanitation workers.

Referring to Mahatma Gandhi's "million mutinies", he said that today, there were a million mutinies in India. We are not egoistic, we don't destroy lives, we don't crush people - unlike BJP, added Gandhi. "Peace and harmony has been embodied in the soul of this country and the responsibility to uphold it lies with the Congress", the letter said.
