Gov. Phil Murphy announced Tuesday he will sign legislation that bolsters equal pay laws in New Jersey.

So basically, Equal Pay Day doesn't equally apply to everyone. The Act is now reviewed by a committee in the United State Senate.

The sources asked for anonymity because they are not authorized to speak publicly about the matter. In 2016, median yearly earnings in the USA for women and men working full time were $41,554 and $51,640, respectively, according to a 2016 report.

At that rate, women won't reach pay equality until 2059, the report said.

Last year, as a species we managed to create adaptable, airless tires, elevators that move in more directions than up or down, and breast pumps that are so thin and discreet that women can fit them in their bras, according to Time magazine.

"And as the motto goes, we want "Equal Pay for Equal Work" though we aim for this to be more than just a saying, and to be put into practice throughout Hawaii".

Also, employers would be prohibited from cutting the wages of higher-paid staff in order to make salaries comparable.

Senator Corrado voted for the Diane B. Allen Equal Pay Act that passed the New Jersey Legislature recently. Murphy has long said he planned to sign it. NCPE made a decision to have Equal Pay Day fall on a Tuesday in April of each year to symbolize how far into the year and workweek women have to work to match the salary of a man.

During the ceremony, Carvalho emphasized the importance of tackling equal pay for equal work as a state issue.

"We are closer than we have ever been to seeing the dream of ending pay inequity for women for good in New Jersey".
