"So, I think it is very important to do something to reestablish deterrents, but also as a punitive thing to really punish the Syrians for doing this", Hill said.

Or perhaps there would need to be a series of violations, as was the case before 7 April, prior to any United States action.

"Hopefully he's gotten the message, it was a pretty strong message", she said.

The UK, France and the United States are pushing for an independent investigation into allegations that Syrian Government forces are using chemical weapons - a day after launching air strikes on the war-torn country.

The U.S ambassador to the U.N. Nikki Haley warned the U.S.is "locked and loaded" if Syria uses chemical weapons again.

It said the "precise, overwhelming and effective" military strike in Syria by US, France and Britain were meant to send a clear message that the use of chemical weapons against its own civilians is inexcusable.

Trump drew some criticism for his choice of words: former president George W. Bush notoriously stood on an aircraft carrier just a few weeks after the initial Iraq invasion in 2003 in front of a "Mission Accomplished" banner. "They attacked Syria because we defeated their terrorist agents", said one of the protesters.

Haley rejected the premise posed by Fox News anchor Chris Wallace that the US has condoned Assad's use of conventional weapons to kill rebels attacking his forces, just not chemical agents.

Ann Say is the co-founder of local non-profit Once We Were Refugees (OWWR) which teaches sewing and sewing machine fix to refugees who are living in the metro.

The announcement was made in response to three rounds of strikes at 4am Syria time on Saturday.

Putin's comments were published shortly after Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov struck a more conciliatory note by saying Moscow would make every effort to improve political relations with the West.

"When our president draws a red line, our president enforces the red line", Haley said at an emergency United Nations meeting called by Russian Federation.

Russian officials met with Assad after the US, France and Britain launched 105 missiles on Syria in retaliation for Assad's alleged chemical attack against his own people.

The Syrian Scientific Research Establishment is one of the targets that were hit by US missile strikes that hit Syria shortly before dawn on Friday.

The narrowly targeted pre-dawn military operation on Saturday took aim at three alleged chemical weapons facilities.

A draft resolution circulated by the three countries and obtained late Saturday by The Associated Press would condemn all use of chemical weapons, especially the April 7 attack in Douma.

The Syrian government has denied using chemical weapons, accusing Western powers of falsely accusing them to "prepare the ground for aggression" against the country.

The Syrian Foreign Ministry Saturday condemned what it called "the brutal American-British-French aggression. which constitutes a flagrant violation of global law". And it would establish a new body to determine responsibility for chemical attacks, call for a cease-fire in Syria, unimpeded access for all humanitarian aid, and an urgent resumption of negotiations on a political settlement.

New Western air strikes in Syria would provoke "chaos" in worldwide relations, Russian President Vladimir Putin told his Iranian counterpart, Hassan Rouhani, on Sunday.
