San Francisco Giants' Brandon Belt broke an interesting record on Sunday against the Angels.

Per Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times, this broke the previous Major League Baseball record for pitches in an at-bat, originally set in 1998 in a battle between Ricky Gutierrez and Bartolo Colon.

In total, Barria threw 49 pitches in the first inning, but that in itself wasn't quite a record - Daniel Norris hurled a 54-pitch inning in 2015. Casey Pratt of ABC Bay Area reports the at-bat lasted more than 13 minutes. "I was really exhausted after that", Simmons said.

"I wasn't going to give it up, and the pitcher wasn't either, " Belt said after the game. The crowd buzzed as Belt peppered the second deck behind home plate and even the seats down the right-field line with souvenirs. "It made for a good battle". Not after he ran the count full and then kept spoiling pitch after pitch - an unbelievable 15 of them with a two-strike count.

He just knew he wasn't going to give in.

The Giants later won the game, 4-2, thanks in part to a home run from Belt, who has been on a tear. "Don't want to do it again". In his fourth at-bat, he hit the first pitch - a curveball from Jim Johnson - for a single and he flied out on a first-pitch slider in his final at-bat.

Belt saw 40 pitches in five at-bats. Thirty-eight percent of his 77 pitches Sunday were to Belt. "Like, this can't be happening", Maldonado said.

Barria was charged with two earned runs, as reliever Noe Ramirez allowed two of the runners to score.

Meanwhile, Cueto took a no-hitter into the sixth inning.
