Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah and Tottenham striker Harry Kane, who have scored of 29 and 25 league goals respectively, are also nominated.

Manchester City trio David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne and Leroy Sane as well as Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane, Manchester United's David De Gea and Mohamed Salah of Liverpool have all been nominated for the 2018 Professional Footballers' Association (PFA) Players' Player of the Year award.

De Gea has enjoyed another excellent campaign for United, and will be hoping to become the first goalkeeper to win the award since Peter Shilton in 1978.

The list of nominees for PFA Young Player of the Year has also been announced, and there is a slight crossover with the fact that Kane and Sane have also been shortlisted for this award.

The victor will be announced at the PFA's annual awards ceremony in London on Sunday, 22 April.

Manchester City are in the league of their own this season - having won 27 of their 32 round of matches already played this term.

Salah has also scored 9 Champions League goal, and his impressive performance led to his side ousting Manchester City from the European elite championship at the quarterfinal stage.

The Spain playmaker has eight goals and 11 assists to his name in a City team which has dominated the competition this year.

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has given his backing to the Liverpool star to take the top prize and believes the Champions League tie between City and the Merseysiders to be the deciding factor.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford has a place on the shortlist for the PFA Young Player of the Year trophy as the 20-year-old continues his excellent form for United and England.

While you wouldn't automatically assume Kane would be included in this list, its easy to forget how young he still is.
