LeBron James Has Perfect Response To Cavs' Game 1 Loss To Pacers

  • Oladipo remembers Cavs owner said Pacers didn't get enough for George

Game 2 is scheduled for Wednesday night. Pacers 98, Cavaliers 80.

The Pacers completely outplayed the three-time defending conference champions, whose turbulent regular season has carried over into the playoffs. The teams split two previous playoff series with the Cavaliers holding a 5-4 edge in game victories.

The Cavaliers had their lowest-scoring first period of the season and only five baskets with six turnovers in the opening quarter, drawing boos as they walked off at half-time trailing 59-38.

The Pacers jumped ahead 33-14 after the first quarter and led by as much as 23 in holding off the Cavs, who came no closer than seven points the rest of the way.

The Cavs were 8-for-34 on 3-pointers. Victor Oladipo led IN with 32 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals IN the win. Prior to Sunday, he had never lost a Game 1 in the first round, he hadn't lost any first-round game since 2012 and he hadn't lost a first-round game by this wide of a margin since 2008. "We didn't come here just to be OK", said Pacers star Victor Oladipo, who dropped a 32-point water balloon on a subdued and shocked Q crowd. "We talked about some of the things that Cleveland would do".

"They took advantage of everything what we wanted to do", James said."They were more physical at the point of attack and were more precise with what they wanted to do".

We also learned the Pacers aren't going to be intimidated after being swept by the Cavaliers a year ago.

Only once have they gone on to lift the NBA Championship, being victorious in 2016.

Al Horford had a double-double with 24 points and 12 rebounds, and host Boston edged Milwaukee in overtime in Game 1 of an Eastern Conference quarterfinals series. They outscored the Pacers in the final three quarters of the game.

James had his 98th career double-double, and 20th career double as the four time MVP finished the day leading the Cavs in points (24) and assists (12).

Cleveland had a small ball lineup in Game 1, featuring a healthy Rodney Hood, Jeff Green at the power forward spot, and Kevin Love at center.

Forget LeBron James making his eighth consecutive trip to the National Basketball Association finals - the Cleveland Cavaliers star might have trouble just getting out of the opening round of the playoffs. That put James at point guard even longer, keeping him out of the post where he looked capable of doing more damage, while limiting his downhill assaults on the rim. In the first quarter, Nance Jr. had six points and no one else had more than two. We're fully aware of his team, and we realize it's not going to be easy, but that doesn't mean we're just going to come in here and just fold. Jaylen Brown finished with 20 points, and rookie Jayson Tatum added 19 points and 10 rebounds. IN simply stifled Cleveland and didn't panic when they saw the lead trimmed to seven. Are this year's Pacers ready to take the next step they couldn't with Paul George? Following that contest, the series shifts to Indianapolis for games on Friday and Sunday night. It's hard to see the Cavaliers being held to 80 points again.

The Pacers need Myles Turner to continue to score and rebound as he did in Game 1.
