Merseyside Police have asked the public to send them footage of Manchester City's team bus being attacked at Anfield on Wednesday.

City entered derby day on the back of a 3-0 reversal against Liverpool in the first leg of a Champions League quarter-final tie.

City coach Manel Estiarte posted a video to social media taken from inside the bus as the events were unfolding.

"I really don't understand it", he said.

THE usual route taken by team coaches arriving at Anfield was scrapped last night because of recently-erected scaffolding and skips blocking the way.

"Sometimes the players or managers, the team, they don't deserve sometimes to be supported (with) what they have done".

And they point out that both areas are close to Anfield and that fans were going to gather outside the stadium regardless. Of course, it is not Liverpool, it is the people- it was not only one, only two, only three.

"They found their game and their actions".

The case won't be heard by UEFA's disciplinary physique till Could 31 after the ultimate, which means any sanctions would apply exclusively subsequent season.

"Today you are talking about Real Madrid going through, Barcelona going through, Bayern Munich going through and Liverpool going through".

He said in the aftermath of a frustrating afternoon on home soil: "For the fans it is tough and maybe we are going to get more credit if we are able to win the Premier League and people will say how tough it is to win".

Now instead of a morale-boosting celebration, Pep Guardiola's side have been forced to wait to clinch their third title in seven seasons and can not be guaranteed the title even if they win at Tottenham Hotspur next Saturday. Number one, (suspending the game) is a way of punishing Liverpool and number two it's a way of sending a message that this shouldn't happen, but there's no way (the Manchester City players) couldn't have been affected by that.

He said: "We lost 2-3". But with a similar deficit facing Manchester City, Guardiola didn't sound quite as convinced.

Putting his thumbs up to members of staff, he then said, "Thanks for protecting us".

However, Guardiola's players were keen to play down the incident.

After the sport, Kevin De Bruyne and Manchester Metropolis captain Vincent Kompany each refused in charge the incident involving the bus for the efficiency and the outcome at Anfield.

It had an effect on the Premier League Champions-elect as the team performance wasn't up to par with their unbelievable form in England's main division.

Two police officers were hurt during the chaotic scenes yesterday evening - one struck by an object and another was cut by glass cut, according to Match Commander Superintendent Paul White.
