Ravens Sign Willie Snead

  • Willie Snead is headed to Baltimore

Snead, who was a restricted free agent, will join the Ravens after the New Orleans Saints decided not to match the offer for the 25-year-old. The Saints declined to match the offer, allowing Snead to leave the organization for Baltimore.

The dollar amounts are nearly the exact same parameters of the offer sheet the Saints signed former Bears WR Cameron Meredith to earlier in the month.

Willie Snead's time in New Orleans has come to an end.

According to ESPN, the Ravens offered Snead a two-year deal worth $7 million. The impact of that hit on the Saints can be debated, as Snead was phased out of the offense in 2017 following a three-game suspension then injury to begin the season. As a result, the Saints tendered the upcoming restricted free agent at the lowest level, making clear their lack of desire to retain the receiver. Though he only caught eight passes for 92 yards last season, the potential is there.

He becomes the Ravens third veteran wide receiver to sign during the off-season, joining Michael Crabtree and John Brown in Baltimore.

In 2015 and 2016, Snead posted 1,879 yards with 141 receptions and seven touchdowns.
