  • Social network NOT WORKING for hundreds of users in UK — Twitter DOWN

Twitter is now down in many parts of the world, including the US, UK and Japan. South Africa was soon to follow.

By 10:30 a.m., service to many parts of the US had been restored, however outages still continued. Users panicked when suddenly the site stopped working. At the moment, when I try to load the site on my browser, I'm getting the following message: "Something is technically wrong". More details are awaited.

Earlier in January this year, Twitter went down in a similar fashion and it could not be reached at all.

Users of the micro-blogging site from across the world were briefly shown an unhappy robot and a message that the site has broken.

When Twitter ($NYSE:TWTR) launched in 2006, it was little more than a curious messaging platform that challenged users to make a point in 140 characters. Tweets were originally restricted to 140 characters, but on November 7, 2017, this limit was doubled for all languages except Japanese, Korean, and Chinese.

Twitter was created in March 2006 by Jack Dorsey and his team. The service rapidly gained worldwide popularity.
