  • Snowfall totals wont be extreme but the timing could cause a headache across much of the Northeast

Areas in Northern Michigan like Gaylord, Petoskey, Alpena and Cheboygan could see another 8 inches of snow overnight, the National Weather Service said.

Likely, this will turn into mainly all heavy wet snow showers for most of the morning, and into the early afternoon before tapering off.

Yesterday's high temperature of 48 degrees gave way to summer-like temperatures and occasional rain today.

This week started with snow and it will end with snow, as yet another winter-like storm moves through the area on Friday and a possible nor'easter looms in the days after.

Wednesday morning's commute could be a slick one for much of MI as today's storm system continues to work its way across the Great Lakes, ramping up with more snow overnight.

Are we sure it's April?

At least it will be warm, with a high temperature near 66 degrees in Providence. Winds on Wendesday afternoon could gust over 50mph, which is enough to cause scattered power outages and tree limb damage. Certainly, wintry weather is not uncommon in New England in April, but I'm ready to be done with Old Man Winter.

As colder air surges in behind the system early Saturday morning, temperatures will again fall into the 20s. The Iowa Great Lakes may be buried under 5 to 7 inches. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Another fast moving system will bring us a chance of rain or snow on Sunday. Current predictions indicate Saturday will be chilly-with a high near 42 degrees-and cloudy, but dry. Temperatures will be a touch warmer, high look to reach the upper 30s in most locations.
