  • Warriors waive Omri Casspi after injury

In his ninth season in the best basketball league in the world, Casspi, the first-ever Israeli player for the league, created a storm when he signed no other than the Golden State champion for a minimum contract.

When the 29-year-old Israeli forward joined the Warriors last summer, it sounded nearly too good to be true.

Cook was a phenomenal role player at Duke, but there were questions at the time about his pro potential.

Omri Casspi, the first Israeli to play in the National Basketball Association, was waived by the Golden State Warriors.

Casspi is suffering from inflammation as well as a bone bruise on the side of his right foot that has kept him out of action since March 16 and is still preventing him from running or jumping.

The move practically locks in guard Quinn Cook into the Warriors final playoff roster spot, though it isn't official just yet.

Casspi appeared in 53 games in his eight months with the Warriors this season, of them seven starts, averaging 5.7 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.0 assist in 14.0 minutes per game.

Cook entered Sunday averaging 9.4 points and 2.7 assists per game this season, impressively knocking down 44.8 percent of his three-point opportunities.
