  • iPhone 2019 again rumoured to offer triple-lens camera – but do we need it?

The camera on the device has been reported as better than the current iPhone X or the Galaxy X9.

The report says a note from Yuanta Securities Investment Consulting Co analyst Jeff Pu says 'Apple is likely to launch a new iPhone model with a triple-lens rear camera in the second half of next year'. Bloomberg had previously claimed that the 2019 iPhone would get blessed with the tech to allow for enhanced depth perception and more advanced AR. A report from the Economic Daily News last month suggested the camera setup will have a 6P lens design with up to 5X zoom and at least one 12MP lens. Although the Face ID has connections with the sensors that are seen on the forward-facing TrueDepth Camera, yet there does exist some links in between a back camera breakdown in the iPhone X and the breakdown of the Face ID to function properly. Two reports independently from each other mention the same three 12-megapixel camera, but CP also predicts the appearance of optical stabilization. Huawei shocked the world by adding a third camera to their P20 Pro phone, and everyone thought it was a gimmick. This would be a major improvement over the 2x optical zoom now available on the iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X. No further information is known about the three cameras as of now. The third lens' addition would mean that the user will have the ability optically zoom in up to 3X without losing any data.

Meanwhile, Apple is also expected to launch three iPhone models in 2018 as well.

It is believed that the extra lens on the 2019 iPhone would help it to achieve 5x optical zoom.

Meanwhile, according to a report by Patently Apple, the Cupertino-based giant could use LG's next-generation MLCD+ display on its 2018 iPhone model.
