Ashley Judd has sued disgraced mogul Harvey Weinstein for what the actress says was irreparable damage to her career.

About a year before Judd was in contention for the "Lord of the Rings" role, Weinstein had her meet him in a hotel room in Beverly Hills - under the guise of discussing business - where he appeared in a bathrobe and, among other things, asked her to submit to a massage and watch him shower, the complaint said.

In October, Judd sat down with ABC News' Diane Sawyer in her first television interview about her Weinstein allegations. Since the claims became public numerous powerful men in entertainment, media and politics have been brought down by similar accusations. "It's time that Mr.n Weinstein be held accountable for that conduct and for the ways in which he's damaged careers", she concluded.

"Ashley is fighting back, but she also wants to point the way for others", Theodore J. Boutrous Jr.

"The actual facts will show that Mr. Weinstein was widely known for having fought for Ms. Judd as his first choice for the lead role in Good Will Hunting and, in fact, arranged for Ms. Judd to fly to NY to be considered for the role".

"Ms Judd reasonably believed that Weinstein meant to physically assault her", Mr Boustrous wrote.

He has apologised for his past behaviour but denies all allegations of non-consensual sex.

Sorvino also responded to Jackson's comments, calling it "confirmation that Harvey Weinstein derailed my career, something I suspected but was unsure".

Judd, a leading member of the "Time's Up" movement against sexual harassment in the workplace, is seeking unspecified damages and a jury trial.

"Weinstein torpedoed Ms. Judd's incredible professional opportunity when he told Mr. Jackson ... the studio had had a "bad experience" with Ms. Judd, and that Ms. Judd was a "nightmare" to work with and should be avoided 'at all costs, '" attorneys for Judd said in the filing obtained by TheWrap.

In December, "Lord of the Rings" director Peter Jackson spoke to the New Zealand publication Stuff and said that Weinstein made him blacklist certain female stars, including Judd. She said that after she rebuffed his sexual advances, he retaliated against her by damaging her career.
