  • After Narendar approached the crime branch and said that he was duped the crime branch constituted a team after noting down his complaint

Brar and Mohan then kept telling Narender that a few tests would have to be carried out and the businessman shelled out Rs 87.2 lakh for these tests to be conducted, reported Times Now.

They reportedly told investors they were building a device which they called the "rice puller", which could be used to generate "electricity from thunderbolts".

The men allegedly convinced the businessman to buy a copper plate for a hefty sum, which they claimed had "special properties" and could be sold to NASA for a huge profit.

They had allegedly told the Delhi-based businessman, named only as Narender, that if tests were successful, they would then sell the device to Nasa for $5bn.

The officer said police had also seized laptops, fake letters, chequebooks and an Audi vehicle. The Crime Branch of Delhi Police nabbed Virender Mohan Brar (56) and son Nitin Mohan Brar (30) who defrauded a victim, Narendra, on the pretext of a product called Rice Puller (RP) that space agencies were apparently willing to purchase for Rs 37,500 crore after testing its genuineness.

After that the complainant again entered into an MoU with the company and again paid Rs 5.6 lakh, Rs 3.5 lakh and Rs 42 lakh on different occasions for purchasing of a special suit for the scientist, his fees and chemicals required for the testing of RP which was scheduled in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh.

The cheats are also often known to tell victims that the metal device is extremely rare.

Once the complaint was lodged, the police arrested the Brar duo who deals in antique/rare metals.

According to the police, the victim later found out that the "scientist" was working with the accused, and was being paid ₹20,000.

Further investigation revealed that the "rice puller" is a "non-existent thing", but the conmen apparently coated the copper plate with "liquid magnet" and small iron wires to try to fool the victim.

The duo was arrested on Tuesday (8th May) by the Crime Branch and the "Rice Puller" copper plate, anti-radiation scientist suits and anti-radiation chemical stickers were seized from their possession.

During investigation, alleged RP copper plate, alleged anti-radiation scientist suits of NASA and alleged anti-radiation chemical stickers have been recovered from the possession of the arrested accused persons along with laptop, printer, blank letter heads of Rehan Metals, USA, cheque books, fake ID cards of Rehan Metals and one Audi vehicle.
