  • Nawaz Sharif agrees to Pakistan's involvement in Mumbai attack

The relations between the military and the Sharif government were at its lowest ebb in October 2016 when the latter told the former to act against home grown militant groups or face global isolation.

The Mumbai case is being tried in an anti-terrorism court since 2009 but the case isn't going anywhere. On Saturday, too, the Indian establishment took a cautious stand, pointing out that Sharif's utterances were "more about him than India". He was trying to become a hero by acknowledging that.

The Mumbai attack case has entered the tenth year but none of the suspects in Pakistan has been punished yet. "Why can't we complete trial?". He indicated that his country should look into why its narrative that it had been fighting terrorism had not been accepted by the global community "despite sacrifices". Till today, India is not in any type of talking terms with Pakistan.

He also blamed the government, saying that the country can't run on three parallel government, and that it should be one body to govern the people of the country.

The petition was filed by ruling Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Noor Aawan.

On 26 November, 2008, 10 terrorists of Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) arrived in Mumbai by sea route and opened fire indiscriminately at people on different locations.

In an interview to an english daily, dawn, in Pakistan Nawaz Sharief was candid enough to admit that the horrific attacks were conspired and planned in Pakistan.

Recalling that former prime minister Manmohan Singh too said that Islamabad was involved in the Mumbai attacks, Satav told ANI, "Former prime minister (Manmohan Singh ji) has already said that Pakistan is behind the Mumbai 26/11 attacks".

Saeed who was one of the main accused, was released after 10 months of house arrest and the Pakistan Government, in a way, backed the judgement quoting the equality of law.
