Addressing a press conference after meeting the National Security Committee (NSC) and Sharif, Abbasi said that the former Premier's statement did not aim to hold Pakistan responsible for the 26/11 attacks, Pakistani media reported.

In a video message, he said that he briefed former premier Sharif two times on Kargil and Sharif had said: "we should hoist Pakistan's flag in Srinagar".

Sharif, as per an exclusive Dawn news report, in that meeting had raised the issue of Pakistan's growing global isolation because of behind-the-scenes support by military to banned terror groups, including Jaish-e-Muhammad, Jamaat-ud-Dawa and the Haqqani Network.

"The participants unanimously rejected the allegations and condemned the fallacious assertions", the office said, referring to military and civilian leaders.

"Call them non-state actors, should we allow them to cross the border and kill 150 people in Mumbai?"

He said misunderstandings are removed in the light of the facts. "Pervaiz Rasheed should not have been punished", she said, while responding to a question regarding why the former minister was removed from his post if Dawn leaks was true. "We should find out who laid the foundation of terrorism in the country".

Sharif dispelled the notion that the comments were falsely attributed to him, saying that he will speak the truth come what may. "What did I say in the interview that was wrong", he asked journalists in Islamabad. The global community must now ensure that Pakistan abandons its strategy of using terrorism as an instrument of state policy and shuts terror factories operating on its soil.

Weighing the ongoing wave of discussions on the Mumbai attacks, former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said India used the Mumbai attacks for its own "despicable" plans.

Ten Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants from Pakistan killed 166 people and wounded dozens in Mumbai in November, 2008.

Sharif on Monday morning told reporters that he stood by his comments, according to Daily Pakistan and Geo TV.

Sharif's statement has left the Pakistan Army extremely anxious that "this will give more weight to India's narrative that Pakistan is not doing enough" with respect to the 26/11 trial, and could even put Pakistan on the blacklist of global financial trade agreements.
