  • She's facing two counts of aggravated assault on a police officer disorderly conduct and resisting arrest and other charges according to Wildwood police

Police have released bodycam video of a confrontation between police and a 20-year-old woman on the beach this past Saturday afternoon whom police accused of underage drinking.

A series of three videos depicts the arrest of 20-year-old Emily Weinman from the lead officer's POV.

In a lengthy Facebook post, Weinman claims she was targeted by police because family and friends were drinking nearby.

One of the officers tells her: "You're about to get dropped". After a bystander tells the officer to refrain from throwing blows, Weinman yells out, "you're not allowed to beat me like that". In seconds, both are in the sand in a violent struggle.

"The cop said, "I was gonna let you go but now I'll write you up" and he asked my name". She tried kicking at us, so I slammed her on the ground.

In an interview with "Good Day Philadelphia" Thursday morning, Troiano continued his defense of the officers' actions and said the whole thing could have been avoided had Weinman provided the officers with her last name. "Upon the conclusion of the investigation in the coming days, and only after final review by the Cape May County Prosecutors Office, the Wildwood Police Department will release the findings and outcome of the investigation".

"I'm not choking", the officer says moments before punching her in front of a crowd of beachgoers.

She said she had gone to the beach with the father of her child and was approached by officers about a bottle of alcohol she had with her.

"Officers have to use only the modicum of force necessary to effect a lawful arrest".

Wildwood's mayor says the incident was not a reflection of the Jersey Shore town.

She said the officer tackled her to the ground, forcing her to black out.

"She assaults them, she spits at them, she kicks them". Emily Weinman said the police then asked her for her ID. Then she turns around and spits toward the officers. The first video shows police asking Weinman to blow into a breathalyzer, and asking if she's underage.

Police on Wednesday said the incident could have gone another direction. "She probably would have just gotten a citation".

The officers were identified as Class II patrolmen Thomas Cannon, John Hillman and Robert Jordan.

Troiano told NJ.com that Weinman "refused to comply" and police were doing their job. And then I put her in cuffs and locked her up.

A court date was set for June 6, though Dicht said it will probably be rescheduled for an unknown date.
