White House Weighs in on Laurel vs. Yanny Debate: 'I Hear Covfefe'

If you cut out the low frequencies with a High Pass Filter then "Laurel" becomes physically inaudible to hear, and you only hear "Yanny".

"It's "Laurel.' But I could deflect and divert to 'Yanny" if you need me to", Conway says.

Many Twitter users said the White House should be spending its time addressing more important issues. When the pitch is turned down 30% you'll hear Yanny, when it is increased 30% you'll clearly hear Laurel.

In a rare display of lighthearted humor, an unlikely source weighed in on the internet's "Yanny vs. Laurel" debate: the White House.

In the clip, staffers are seen listening to the viral recording from Reddit where listeners were asked which sound they heard.

Not so, say White House deputy press secretary Hogan Gidley and director of strategic communications Mercedes Schlapp.

A straw poll carried out among staff in AFP's Washington bureau counted 17 for Yanny, and 14 for Laurel.

Laurel and Yanny debate was an audio version of "The Dress" - a photo that went viral in 2015 when no one could agree whether the garment was white and gold or blue and black.

The age of your ears will also affect what you hear, the sounds of "Yanny play at a higher frequency than those of "Laurel".
