30-year-old New York man evicted by parents leaves their home

  • Man, 30, ordered evicted from parents’ home by New York judge feels ‘great’ to be leaving

The 30-year-old upstate NY man who was evicted from his parents' home says he's OK being the punchline of jokes as he prepares to move by the legal deadline.

The jobless 30-year-old who was sued by his parents for still living at home has finally flown the coop, but not before delivering one last parting shot - by calling the cops on his dad.

He reportedly waved to reporters and honked his horn as he pulled out of the driveway eight years after moving back in, rent-free.

"This isn't a game show", Rotondo told the Post-Standard of Syracuse regarding the Legos.

News crews recorded him packing up a pickup truck this week.

Mr Rotondo told journalists gathered outside the family home on Friday morning that he had called law enforcement because his father would not let him retrieve his eight-year-old son's Lego from the basement.

Rotondo said he is in the process of hauling the rest of his belongings out of his parents' Camillus, N.Y., house and into a storage unit. "While the police were there, the Legos were located and there was no further incident".

The eviction drama began on February 2 when the parents left their first note, saying Michael had two weeks to vacate his room at the family's Camillus home.

"I gotta get going before that thing blows up", he said.

The week went no more smoothly for Rotondo or his parents, according to Syracuse.com. They offered him $1,100 "so you can find a place to stay" and nudged him to get a job.

Mr Rotondo told the Daily Mail he blamed his parents' "refusal" to support his bid for custody of his son for a breakdown in their relationship that led to the court case. And sadly, other Michael Rotondos got caught in the crossfire - including one who also happens to hail from central NY, in Albany. Rotondo refused the judge's request to work things out directly with his parents, who sat quietly nearby.

Calls made to Mark and Christina Rotondo's home Friday were not answered. Later, he plans on moving in with a distant cousin, the newspaper reported. "I don't have to guess what's behind door number one".
