"It's about judging the best donut in central Indiana".

Krispy Kreme will be offering one free doughnut of your choice.

We've rounded up the top deals for this year's donut celebration, giving you the chance to enjoy the sweet treat free of charge. Held annually on the first Friday of June, the National Donut Day was first established by The Salvation Army in Chicago in 1938. Patrons will be offered a free glazed doughnut in honor of National Doughnut Day.

It's the perennial question: Are you a cake donut person or a raised donut person? Also, 10 percent of their proceeds that day will go to the Salvation Army. National Donut Day was begun by The Salvation Army to bring awareness and raise funds for its many social service programs...especially those that help veterans. Customers can start "looking" for them beginning at 6 a.m., and those who find the golden Timbits win free donuts for a year.

Stop by the doughnut chain for one free doughnut.

The company says the Timbits will be honey-dipped with edible 24k gold.
