  • #BJPdumpsPDP: J&K CM Submits Resignation

At one end of the park stands the tomb of People's Democratic Party (PDP) founder and former chief minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, encircled by a barbed wire fence.

"The BJP, in its pursuit of power and political opportunism, in the past three years, disrupted the ongoing constructive engagement with the people of the state and has imperilled the security situation, setting the state of Jammu and Kashmir on a fire of anarchy, radicalization, malgovernance and corruption", Congress leaders Ghulam Nabi Azad and Ambika Soni said in a statement. PDP is the largest party in the state. This is for the fourth time in a decade that Vohra has assumed charge of the state in similar circumstances.

In the successive meetings of the BJP and RSS, it was not only discussed but decided that the party must get out of alliance. All their good work has been lost to this alliance.

People had welcomed the decision then, they have welcomed it now, the BJP chief said. Yesterday's BJP-PDP fallout forced chief minister Mehbooba Mufti to resign and the subsequent imposition of Governor's rule today said a report published by Indian Express.

In neighbouring Anantnag, where Mehbooba was elected in 2016 with a margin of more than 12,000 votes, the mood is not any different and there is only visible resentment among PDP workers. The BJP is not for power.

Though the party workers are very happy with the decision taken by its leadership by pulling out of the alliance, still the BJP wants no stone unturned to capitalise on it not only in Jammu and Kashmir but in other parts of the country as well.

"What do you mean "we are working on something"?"

"It has become untenable for the BJP to continue its alliance government in IoK, hence we are withdrawing", said BJP general secretary Ram Madhav. They said the meeting will take place Friday evening.

Sitting at a roadside cafe on the Anantnag-Pahalgam road, Rashid said there was a governance deficit as well.

The BJP leader said that the public rally will be held in front of Brahmin Sabha Parade Road which will be addressed by Shah besides some state leaders.

But in the three and half years of the rule, there has been perpetual sparring between PDP and BJP over several issues.

"The people of south Kashmir had many expectations with the PDP but the people were proved wrong". We had only two options - either form a coalition government or go for another election.
