  • Liverpool icon Dalglish urges fans: Don't boo Coutinho on Anfield return

Roberto Firmino added a second in stoppage time to satisfy the home fans on Merseyside.

Croatia's goalkeeper Danijel Subasic (L) reacts as Brazil's striker Neymar celebrates after scoring the opening goal of the worldwide friendly football match between Brazil and Croatia at Anfield in Liverpool on June 3, 2018.

Here are three things we noticed about Croatia from their match against Brazil.

Paris St Germain forward Neymar allayed fears a long injury layoff since hurting his ankle and metatarsal in late February would harm his chances of making an impact in Russian Federation with an impressive display from the bench in his first game back.

And when Neymar gave Brazil the lead midway through the second-half, Croatia's attacking players did not have the game-changing quality they required to get back into the game.

Coutinho switched to a more orthodox midfield role after Neymar's introduction at the break and Firmino played the last half hour in the middle after replacing Jesus. "I respect Tite's opinion (in starting with Jesus) 100 per cent", Firmino said.

Defender Dejan Lovren had the best chance to open with a header that grazed Brazil goalkeeper Alisson's right post after a corner.

However, Tite urged caution over Neymar's return, and would not say if he had decided whether the 26-year-old will feature in Brazil's final pre-World Cup friendly against Austria in Vienna next Sunday.

Monday will be a rest day for the team and Brazilian media claimed midfielder Fred will be travelling to Manchester for medical tests before signing a deal with Manchester United.

Coutinho, who completed a £142m move to Barcelona in January, will line-up for Brazil in a World Cup warm-up friendly against Croatia.
