Amazon and BT have bought the two remaining packages of domestic Premier League rights, with the online giant able to stream two full rounds of top-tier games a season from 2019/20.

The online streaming service has won the rights to show every game from the first round of midweek fixtures in December and all 10 matches on Boxing Day as part of the three-year deal.

Sky, which has broadcast Premier League games since its inception in 1992, still holds the majority of packages of live-TV fixtures that are valued at £4.55bn. In February, Sky Sports paid £3.58 billion for four packages, while BT Sport spent £295 million on another package.

Amazon will exclusively live-stream the matches for three years from the 2019-20 season.

Amazon Prime, which includes free delivery on purchases as well as music and video content, costs 79 pounds ($106) a year in Britain.

No financial figures made public so far but the figures we do know, are that there are now set to be a massive 200 of the 380 PL games each season, shown on live TV starting in 2018/19.

Premier League executive chairman Richard Scudamore labelled Amazon as an "exciting new partner", adding: "Prime Video will be an excellent service on which fans can consume live Premier League football - including for the first time in the United Kingdom a full round of matches".

The deal will expand awareness of Amazon Prime, the company's lucrative subscription service. The only problem is that most of those companies failed to take the Premier League's bait.

"When the Premier League was formed in 1992 nobody could have envisaged the scale of worldwide growth in the competition which exists now", Scudamore said.

Premier League is a top-level soccer league, consisting of 20 teams.

In a separate statement issued by Amazon, Jay Marine, vice president of Prime Video in Europe, said members are "guaranteed" to see the team they support.

Premier League Executive Chairman Richard Scudamore said: "Amazon is an exciting new partner for the Premier League and we are very pleased they have chosen to invest in these rights".

"With Amazon's rival, this could well be the last time that both BT and Sky own the live Premier League rights in the United Kingdom, with Richard Scudamore keen to attract more online players to the table".

Following confirmation of the Amazon deal, the Premier League have been criticised on social media for adding a third network to their list of television subscribers, with fans now being asked to pay approaching €100-a-month to watch all live matches.
